Kogen-ji Temple has continued for 426 years as a temple of the Jodo Shinshu Honganji school.

The main hall disappeared due to the Seinan War in Meiji 10, and the main hall's ceiling dragon was created for the purpose of reproducing the cloud dragon map that was said to have been on the ceiling of the main hall. Composed of Double Hakuryu, Namimaru, and Higo Rikka, it is the largest in Japan with a width of 11 meters, 8 meters long, and a total weight of 800 kg, and there is no other example of a structure where engravings and colors overlap. The best way to appreciate the Tenryu drawing above your head is to lie down!

The current 18th chief priest has launched the “Connect with Dragons Project” and is planning various dragon alms within the temple.

In this plan, you can enjoy watching the dragon handrail in the center of the main hall left by the 17th chief priest, the dragon table excavated from Yakusugi cedar, and the majestic sound of the bell ringing experience. On your way home, you will be given a commemorative certificate of worship.
