1. Observing the morning practice of sumo, a traditional Japanese sport

On this tour, allow us to give you a glimpse of "morning practice," where you can experience the power of true rikishi. See for yourself how they practice, and find out what sumo is really like. Morning practice is not generally open to the public. It's an experience that’s special even for local Japanese people. This is a truly precious opportunity to closely observe the practice of rikishi preparing for the Grand Sumo tournament.

2. HAKATA SUMO BEYA: Sumo Entertainment Show Viewing (authentic chanko nabe lunch included)

This is a special space where you can enjoy an exciting sumo show and warm yourself up with authentic chanko nabe hot pot.
We deliver a hands-on sumo entertainment experience that’s available nowhere else.
Come and enjoy a warm and lively setting where family, friends, and international visitors alike can experience sumo culture firsthand.

Enjoy live sumo bouts up close while learning about the movements and basic techniques of sumo through a fun, interactive quiz.

- Sumo experience

Step into the dohyo, normally off-limits to the public, and challenge a rikishi to a friendly sumo bout!
You’ll be wearing a padded sumo suit, so women and children can join in too!

After the bouts, those who would like to can take a commemorative photo in the dohyo with the rikishi.

*Participation in the sumo experience is optional and limited, with places available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Enjoy authentic chanko nabe made by former rikishi.

*Rikishi eat chanko nabe daily to build their bodies.

[Tour Guide]

• A tour conductor will not accompany the group; however, a Japanese- and English-speaking guide will assist you. The guide will accompany the group from departure at Hakata Station to arrival at Hakata Sumo Stable.
• Please note that guide service is not provided for the return journey from Hakata Sumo Stable to Hakata Station.
