The tour ends at Kumamoto Station.
You will visit Kumamoto Castle, one of Japan’s Three Most Famous Castles, enjoy the magnificent scenery of Mt. Aso, and have time for shopping at Michi-no-Eki Aso.
Each sightseeing spot allows free exploration, so you can enjoy the tour at your own pace.
(A tour conductor fluent in Chinese, English, Japanese, and Korean will accompany the tour.)

10:00 Kumamoto Castle (90–110 min)
Kumamoto Castle is one of Japan’s three most famous castles, built by Kato Kiyomasa. Its highlights include the impressive stone walls known as “Musha-gaeshi”, which curve outward toward the top, and the magnificent main keep. After recovering from the 2016 Kumamoto Earthquake, the castle is especially stunning in spring when about 800 cherry trees bloom. The nearby Josaien area offers local cuisine and souvenirs. It is also said that the legendary swordsman Miyamoto Musashi, author of “The Book of Five Rings”, spent his final years near today’s Chibajo-machi.

Kusasenri is a vast grassland on the northern slope of Mt. Aso, covering about 20,000 hectares. A pond formed by rainwater lies at its center, and cattle and horses graze freely across the landscape. Visitors can enjoy the beauty of nature in every season and relax while strolling through the open scenery.
Recommended activities: Aso Volcano Museum, horseback riding (additional fees apply) ※Lunch is at your own expense.
Mt. Nakadake
Mt. Nakadake is an active volcano located at the center of Mt. Aso, standing 1,506 meters tall with a beautiful conical shape. Its massive crater—600 m in diameter, 130 m deep, and 4 km around—allows visitors to witness powerful white smoke and dramatic volcanic scenery up close. The summit offers panoramic views of the Aso region.
※If access to the crater is restricted due to volcanic activity, the itinerary will be adjusted accordingly. ※If the crater is closed, the Kusasenri stay will be changed to 90 minutes.

Located at the foot of Mt. Aso, Michi-no-Eki Aso features a market with fresh local produce and specialties. You can also enjoy handmade bento featuring the famous Akaushi beef and three types of soft-serve ice cream.

2) The tour guide will be waiting for you at the meeting place with a yellow “GOGODAY TRAVEL” flag, so you can participate if you tell them the name of your reservation. Please arrive 15 minutes before the meeting time. Please note that there are no refunds due to late arrival or unauthorized cancellations.
3) Staff who can speak Chinese, English, Japanese, or Korean will accompany you, but please be aware that they cannot necessarily guide you in your native language.
4) Since this tour is a plan for people from overseas, the guide language is mainly for overseas visitors. Important notifications such as meeting times will also be announced in Japanese.
