Mackerel fishing: Imari Bay, Matsuura City

Making fried horse mackerel: Takaranohama (Honohama) Exchange Facility

1. Explanation I will explain the flow and precautions for the day. (approx. 5 minutes) 　

2. Contents of the experience 　　

① After wearing a life jacket, board a fishing boat and leave the port. (Approximately 20 to 30 minutes to the fishing spot) 　　

② After arriving at the fishing spot, I will explain how to fish and how to handle fishing tackle. 　　

③ I will fish for horse mackerel using krill (small shrimp) as bait (about 60 minutes) 　　

④ Finish horse mackerel fishing and move to the nearby remote island “Aoshima” (about 10 minutes) 　　

⑤ Arrived at Qingdao port. An old lady from the island who taught me how to make fried horse mackerel is coming to pick me up. 　　

⑥ From the fish we have caught, we will select the fish used to fry horse mackerel together with Grandma 　　

⑦ After saying goodbye to the fisherman, I walk to the place where deep-fried horse mackerel is made while listening to stories about Aoshima from my grandmother (about 10 minutes on foot) 　　

⑧ Start making fried horse mackerel. Each person is asked to cut 2 horse mackerel into 3 slices and cook 3 types of freshly caught mackerel fry, non-frozen horse mackerel fry (about 70 minutes). “Mackerel bone crackers” and “horse mackerel head miso soup” are also made together. 　　

⑨ Once finished, spread out the table where you can see a beautiful beach and compare fried horse mackerel. (approx. 40 minutes) 　　

⑩ After eating and cleaning up, I will walk back to the island port (about 10 minutes) 　　

⑪ I will return to the first port on the fishing boat where I did horse mackerel fishing. (approx. 20 minutes) 　　

⑫ Arrived at the port where the first fishing boat left

① Visit Imafuku Shrine (about 30 minutes)

② Iwamoto Confectionery Shop (Dorayaki making/ (approx. 60 min))

Fill in the dorayaki bean paste, and put a stamp with the “Matsuura, the mecca of fried horse mackerel” logo at the end.

③ Shopping at the roadside station or Hi-Mart (about 60 minutes)
