[JR Mojiko Station]

This Renaissance style wooden building, which exudes elegance and nostalgia, is designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan.

[Kyushu Railway History Museum]

Karato Market, located in Shimonoseki City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, is accessible via a 10-minute ferry ride from the Mojiko Retro area.

On weekends (Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays) and public holidays, the entire ground floor of the market is transformed into the lively Ikiiki Bakangai, a seafood street. The food stalls at Karato Market offer nigiri sushi, miso soup, and a variety of fried dishes made with the freshest ingredients.

Ferry fare not included (at your own expense)

The Ikiiki Bakangai seafood market stalls are closed during the New Year holiday period in Japan (exact dates to be confirmed).

Akama Shrine is a spiritual site in Shimonoseki that is said to bestow a wide range of blessings, including safe childbirth, family well-being, good health, good fortune, maritime safety, and business prosperity. With its striking red-and-white contrast reminiscent of a fairy-tale undersea palace, it is also a popular photo spot.

Kokura Castle Garden is a popular tourist attraction in Kitakyushu City where visitors can experience Japanese culture and enjoy a variety of activities.
