Kokura Castle Keep was destroyed by fire in 1837, but was rebuilt in 1959. In March 2019, the exhibition contents and interior were renewed as an "interactive tourist attraction" for the first time in about 30 years.
At the theater on the first floor, visitors can enjoy a 10-minute video condensing the 400-year history of Kokura Castle.
On the second floor, visitors can learn about the history of the Hosokawa and Ogasawara families who ruled the Kokura domain, and on the third floor, they can learn about the lives of Miyamoto Musashi and Sasaki Kojiro, who were closely associated with the Kokura domain.
The observation space on the fifth floor offers a panoramic view of the city of Kokura, and various events are held there, including the Night Castle, where visitors can enter the castle at night and enjoy a drink.
