Oita Marine Palace Aquarium "Umitamago" is an open-air facility surrounded by the nature of the monkey mountain Takasaki and Beppu Bay. Under the slogan of "an aquarium where you can get along with animals," the aquarium incorporates many innovations to help visitors feel closer to the creatures. In the "Umitama Performance," a variety of animals, including walruses, sea lions, and pelicans, appear in the plaza, which is usually used as a viewing corridor, and give lively performances. Other attractions include a dolphin performance, popular for its powerful jumps, and a feeding commentary in the large migration tank.
