Bokun ID:

Product Code:

Hakata textile【 Hakata-ori】was first introduced by Hakata merchants who went to the Song Dynasty in 1241 during the Kamakura period. In the Edo period, it was given as a gift from the Kuroda Domain to the Edo Shogunate, and it was an opportunity for Hakata textile to spread all over the country, and it became known for the Hakata textile gift pattern.

It was certified as a national traditional craft in 1976.

“Nishimura Orimono,” the oldest weaver of Hakata textile, still has an integrated in-house production system, and efforts are being made to preserve Hakata textile for the future with cutting-edge technology while preserving tradition.

Visitors can learn about Hakata-ori in depth, and the experience of weaving Hakata-ori on a traditional handmade machine is a challenging yet rewarding experience.
