Set against the backdrop of Munakata-Oshima, said to be the birthplace of the Tanabata legend, we have created five experiential activities as "Munakata Oshima Five-Colored Journey," representing faith, nature, and human interaction with five colored strips of paper. This experience, representing purple, is a stargazing program that allows you to enjoy the spectacular night views that can only be experienced by staying overnight on Oshima. You will go with a guide to the remains of a gun battery at dusk, watch the sun sink below the horizon, and then look up at the clear starry sky unique to an island with little light pollution. The time spent in this quiet space where history remains, feeling the sound of the waves and the night breeze, is exceptional. Why not experience the nighttime face of the island that you cannot experience on a day trip?
Please come by ferry from Konominato Port in Munakata City. Our staff will be waiting for you at the Oshima Port Ferry Terminal. There is a municipal parking lot at Konominato Port, so please park there if you are coming by private car.
The event will proceed in light rain, but will be canceled if warnings or advisories are issued or if ferry service is expected to be suspended. The decision to cancel will be made by 3:00 PM the day before, and you will be notified via the contact information you registered.
The guide will provide commentary in Japanese.
